Ad Insertion System on GI's Interactive Digital Cable Platform

Integration of Systems Will Enable Cable Operators to Gain New Digital
Advertising Advantages

HORSHAM, Pa., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- General Instrument
Corporation (NYSE: GIC) announced that it has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with SeaChange International (Nasdaq: SEAC) to integrate
the SeaChange Spot advertising insertion system into GI's interactive
digital cable platform. This collaboration will enable the seamless
insertion of advertisements into digital video streams. Serving over
14,000 television channels, the SeaChange Spot system is a specialized
video server system that leads the market in digital ad insertion.

When integrated into GI's interactive digital platform, the SeaChange
Spot System will enable operators to easily manage their advertising
systems and to provide greater levels of interactivity and targeting.
The result will be advertising that is more cost-effective for
advertisers and more relevant for cable television viewers.
