Jeff? Not a peep. Maybe Cyto hurt too much. And I am "thinking good thoughts" for Gauguin as well. I worry that he's down with a spell of the dark&gloomies.

Gracious living is a wan reflection at the bottom of the diaper pail these days. (Helen is doing great. She's relearned how to roll over and is very very close to becoming mobile.)
I heard an opinion (under the Perspectives heading) on NPR this morning that gave me to think. It was from a producer who opined that the voucher system was a good thing so long as it was confined to public schools. His statement was that if private and/or parochial schools were let into a voucher system, it would be the death of public education.
My knee-jerk impression is that allowing private schools into the voucher system is a good thing. Nothing like a little friendly competition to either induce the public schools to become good again, or to expose them as in deep trouble. Either way the citizen wins.
I woulda liked the opportunity to have lunch with the fellow who said this. I don't see his point, and maybe it's a good one but I'm missing something. Anyone willing to venture a defense/clarification of his stance?
