Pacific Bell, Nevada Bell and Lucent Technologies Enter Strategic Marketing Agreement
Lucent Technologies joins with Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell to better meet business customers' equipment needs
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 8, 1998-- In a major step toward enhancing its full-service telecommunications capabilities, Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell today announced a three-year strategic marketing agreement with Lucent Technologies.

The exclusive arrangement calls for Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell to assist Lucent in selling on-premises switching, key system and call management equipment in California and Nevada. The agreement will enable all three companies to bring new services and the most advanced telecommunications solutions to the market more quickly.

The strategic marketing agreement is the first of its kind for Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell, and is an extension of an agreement that has been in place for over a year in SBC's Southwestern Bell region. The parties will continue to independently serve the communications needs of their respective federal and global account customers.

The agreement covers the Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell territories.

''We continue to strengthen our suite of service offerings by combining high-speed, innovative network services, with quality business products and customer support,'' said Steve McGaw, vice president Pacific Bell Marketing. ''The agreement with Lucent is another example of our commitment to fulfilling customer needs and providing the most advanced technology.''

The agreement broadens Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell's ability to offer complete communications solutions to its customers and expands Lucent's presence in California and Nevada. As a result of this marketing agreement customers' solutions will also include Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell's state-of-the-art network solutions, and Lucent's advanced telecommunications products.

The companies termed the agreement a ''strategy for growth'' for themselves and their customers, and are projecting sales revenues greater than those anticipated without the relationship.

As part of the agreement, some 400 Lucent Technologies sales associates will work with Pacific Bell and Nevada Bell in their respective regions to meet customers telecommunications equipment needs.

Products included under the agreement cover voice switching and messaging systems including Lucent's industry leading DEFINITY(R) Enterprise Communications Server, INTUITY (TM) messaging solution, network management services, and call center solutions for large, mid- sized, and small business customers with enhanced-sales and call-in service centers. Also included are Lucent's Merlin Legend (R) and Partner (R) Systems serving small and mid-sized business customers.
