On July 3, message # 1548 I responded to a comment from AHM concerning ATT increase in LD rates. In that message I noted it was not a rate increase, but a pass through of U.S. subsidy charges to fund Internet hookups and low cost local phone service. I also suggested it was only a matter of time that the other major LD companies would also have to pass the charge to their customers. Yesterday, Sprint very quietly announced a 4.5% surcharge on interstate and international calls to cover the cost. Didn't think it would happen so quickly! Rap
