From an investor's point of view, I think it is good news. Press releases on all VSE companies will be available through a wider variety of free sources. In addition, the VSE is releasing all the data it has on companies (albeit for a price). If you have not done so, you need to look through the new VC Info (http://www.vse.ca/lcdb/) site to see the extent of information available. There should not be any more complaints from investors about the lack of data on VSE listed companies.

Our site will be better off - we'll have all VSE listed company releases. We currently are missing about half.

Market News and Stockwatch will be hit because they were the only complete sources of VSE press info - and have charged users accordingly. Stockwatch is doubly hit because the new VSE web site competes directly with the information they maintain (other than historical stock data and of course non-VSE listed company data). By the way, did I mention that the ASE will be releasing their site in Septemebr including all press releases on ASE companies for free?

CCN and ISDN are also affected as they lose not only their VSE clients, but potentially all of their interlisted clients. For example BCE (listed on all exchanges) has used CCN almost exclusively - will they continue to do so now that they must pay CNW for press release coverage at the VSE? Will they drop their VSE listing?

The few smallcap VSE companies I have spoken with are generally opposed - they are having to pay for something that used to be free through Market News & Stockwatch.

It is an interesting situation - and one that will bear watching throughout the summer. I don't think that Stockwatch/ Market News/ CCN/ ISDN or some VSE companies will give up without a fight.
