I think the point is that by buying Coherent, you're getting TLAB at a discount, which means you get CIEN's DWDM at a discount, too, assuming that all the mergers play out. It sounds like a smart play, and I have not heard any naysayers, yet. (IMHO, there is no reason why federal regulators would stop the TLAB/Coherent/CIEN combination. This is a small company in comparison to LU, Nortel-Bay, CSCO, and the foreign players. The feds should welcome the competition.) Are we sure there is no collar to the Coherent swap?
