Hello all! I'm new to SI and I've just read through the discussion on this stock back to about March 1998. Very interesting story considering I live in the home town of the company's head office!

I've lived in Winnipeg my whole life and have known about Arctic Ice (their product brand name here) for quite some time but didn't know they went public until early this year.

My friend told me about Arctic Group going public in January of 1998 but I dismissed it as too speculative, a "hot tip" that wasn't worth pursuing.

Now I realize that I've missed out on it's spectacular rise in the last 12 months or so. I'm wondering if it's too late to get in. Although at $3.00 or so it's easy to get a small position. I like the idea of supporting a local Winnipeg company as it tries to grow in the international marketplace.

I think I'll talk to my broker about it and see what he thinks. I'm still stuck in nowhere land between going to a full service broker and getting advice or just completely moving all my accounts to a discount broker and going it alone. Right now I have money in both accounts. I'm mainly in mutual funds with my broker but in my discount brokerage account its all stocks.

I imagine most of the people in SI are do-it-yourself types with discount brokerage accounts. Is that a fair assessment?

What do you guys think? Sorry for such a long note, but as you can tell from my alias, I'm new at this online stock research/investing game.

Thanks,

Stock_newbie.
