I will grant you we are similar to a cargo cult.

I will grant you the possibility that we are not alone in the
multiverse.

But our blood is seawater with a little iron in it and we have much
in common genetically with the whole phylogenetic scale.

We have been here awhile. And we are not too smart. Much of our activity is a frenetic race to to keep warm and gather food. Little time for reflection.

Knowledge and thought is not rewarded well in this society. Some island societies have setup their culture so that it adheres to places
of learning as an icon. In the colonies this has been imperfectly copied. Chest thumping has become the rage and the culture is reactionary in its worship of the motherhood issue social leaders with law degrees. A dangerous course I am afraid and dooming us to become a backwater of a non evolving and stagnant slave society.
