Summer 1998 exploration progress Lytton Minerals Ltd LTL Shares issued 111,960,267 Jul 7 close $0.45 Wed 8 Jul 98 News Release Also New Indigo Resources Inc (NDR) Mr. Glenn Laing of Lytton Minerals reports Lytton Minerals and New Indigo Resources have provided the following report on the progress of their 1998 exploration programs. NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - Jericho Project Field crews have been mobilized to begin investigating 84 targets that were selected from the evaluation of airborne EM/Mag geophysical surveys, kimberlite indicator mineral dispersion train analysis, structural interpretation and compilation of previous exploration data. The field program will consist of prospecting, quaternary mapping and site specific sampling, and will lead to the prioritization of targets for ground geophysical confirmation and drilling. A fall 1998/winter 1999 drill program is planned to test the most favourable kimberlite targets resulting from the summer program. Processing of the 30-tonne sample from the JD-03 kimberlite is continuing in the North Vancouver DMS plant with results expected in August. NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - Greater Jericho Area A second airborne geophysical survey, covering the areas of indicator mineral occurrence to the east and north of the central Jericho region, is approximately half complete. In conjunction with these airborne results, resorting of existing till samples, additional till sampling, quaternary mapping and prospecting will be used to prioritize target areas. Further exploration plans include ground geophysical confirmation and possible drilling. NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - Rockinghorse and Hood River Joint Venture (Kennecott 50 per cent, Lytton/New Indigo 50 per cent) Following selective airborne geophysical surveys on the Rockinghorse and Hood River properties, ground geophysical surveys have verified 90 targets. Of these, 21 targets have been proposed for drilling in 1999. A summer program of additional sampling will commence in late July 1998. NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - ICE Claims, Ranch Lake Joint Venture (Kennecott 50 per cent, Lytton 50 per cent) Completion of the ground geophysics verification of airborne targets has increased the number of proposed drill targets from the previously reported nine targets to 19 targets for the 1999 drill program. Summer sampling and quaternary mapping programs to enhance these and other targets are scheduled for late July 1998. NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - DIA Claims, Dolly Varden Joint Venture (Kennecott 50 per cent, Lytton/Dolly Varden 50 per cent) Two proposed drill targets have been identified from the ground geophysical surveys carried out this spring. Additional till sampling and quaternary mapping will be carried out as part of the summer program. NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - Round Lake Joint Venture (Ashton 51 per cent, Lytton 24.5 per cent, Pure Gold 24.5 per cent) Re-evaluation of airborne geophysical data has resulted in the identification of targets for a follow up program to commence by early July. This summer program of ground verification of target areas will include prospecting, till sampling and ground geophysics. NORTHEAST ALBERTA - Birch Mountain Joint Venture (Lytton/New Indigo 60 per cent, Birch Mountain 40 per cent) Processing of low level detailed airborne geophysical surveys, carried out during the spring, has been completed. The companies are currently re-evaluating the merits of the exploration program. |
