In this market, if they meet the whisper number, we'll hold the $90+ price. In other words, it might be priced into the stock already. If they meet the published number, it'll probably tank.

Actually, my opinion is that the whisper number is stupid. There should be just one number. I think the whole concept was created in this new information age where everyone knows pretty much the same thing as a means for the high paid analysts to keep their 'elite' status and perception that they know more than the rest of us.

Are there any old timers out there that can comment on if the whisper number is a new phenomenon?
