[Macromedia Announces Changes to Board of Directors]
SAN FRANCISCO, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Macromedia, Inc. today announced that its Board of Directors has nominated Stewart Alsop, information technology pundit and venture partner with New Enterprise Associates, and Mark Kvamme, chairman and CEO of CKS Group, for election as new board members. The company also announced that Bud Colligan, John Doerr and Richard Kramlich plan to end their terms as board members. These changes will be effective at the company's shareholder's meeting July 30, when the board plans to elect Rob Burgess, CEO of Macromedia, as its new chairman.
"This has been a year of significant transformation as we have focused Macromedia on the Web," said Burgess. "By adding Stewart Alsop and Mark Kvamme, we are broadening our very talented Board of Directors. Stewart has been a central participant in the high technology industry for many years, and he brings a wealth of industry insight and key relationships to the board. Mark's intimate knowledge of one-to-one marketing in the new Internet ecosystem, along with his company's innovative use of Macromedia products to revolutionize online marketing, place him squarely in line with our strategic focus."
Three members announced plans to leave the Macromedia board: Bud Colligan, Macromedia chairman and venture partner with Accel Partners; John Doerr, general partner with Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers; and Richard Kramlich, general partner with New Enterprise Associates.
"Macromedia could not have grown into the company it is today without the guidance and insight of these three industry leaders," added Burgess. "The company is indebted to all of them for their long service and commitment, and particularly to Bud Colligan. Under his leadership, Macromedia became a premier brand that is synonymous with multimedia and leading-edge Web technology. We wish Bud, John and Dick the very best in their future endeavors as they devote more time to their investment, non-profit, and educational initiatives."
"While it is difficult to leave a company you have led and nurtured for 10 years, Macromedia is well positioned for the future, with strong leadership, a clearly focused Web-based vision, and industry-leading products," said Colligan. "I am confident the company will only enhance its position going forward."
