Glenn, let me give you a definition of a "web hosting company" by way of an example: Every week we search the internet and compile a list of freebies that are available on the internet and publish it as "Weekly Freebie Compilation" at weeklyfreebie.com But we can't come up with the money to buy all the equipments and lease a fast T1 or T3 line to handle the traffic, besides, we don't need all this every minute of the day. So we use the service of a web hosting company, in effect time-sharing their equipments with thousands of other domains. We pay them a monthly fee and they handle everything except the content. The domain name weeklyfreebie.com is registered to us, but when you enter the URL , the site you reach is physically at the web hosting company. Hope this help. Sam
