Paul - You left out one important piece of information...Who did Ashton sell or through a side agreement contract his Novell interest to if anyone. If he indeed sold his interest to an outsider (ie. suitor or Whight Knight), this may be the "event" that starts the ball rolling on (1) Buyout, (2) friendly merger, (3) New CEO w/ Whight Knight support and now new board member...etc. George Soros recently acquired over 5% interest in Sybase. I would not be surprised if George Soros made a huge third party investment in Novell and obtains a board slot. We will know what develops shortly. If any 2nd party contract sale was done with Aschton's shares it must be reported by a 13G SEC filing only AFTER the execution date specified in the 2nd party contract sale agreeement. Otherwise any outright sale must be reported within 3 trading days to SEC by form 13G.

The picture gets more interesting....
