As always, I appreciate your comments from experience.

I've heard that there are some compatability problems between some boards and some dvd-roms. Looks like you found one. I'm hoping that SIGM gets its act together in this area with a new board that solves all the problems. I don't think the SIGM board is the only one with the problem of incompatability. I'm assuming the board works very well with the companies SIGM has deals with. Hoping at least.

I also agree with you that at some point the software decoder will overrun the chips and boards. The question is when. You think 266 mhz is enough? I think that Intel will have to get their computers up and running to 400mhz so it doesn't tax the computer so much. Either way, 18 months as you predicted may be a good product life span. I'm betting that SIGM can get some serious cash in their coffers during that time to fund their Netstream 2 product and enter other markets with this cash. Could be wrong though...
