Meitav is a long-standing private company and a capital market leader. Owned by Zvi Stepak and Shlomo Simanovsky, the company has been in operation since 1979 and has a staff of 45, including subsidiaries. Its research department has a staff of eight, analysts and information analysts, and an infrastructure which supports the decision making process as regards the investment of the funds it handles.
Meitav's main field of activity is investment portfolio management for individuals, companies and non-profit organisations. Meitav manages investment portfolios amounting to more than NIS 500 million.
We believe that State of Israel's relative edge and greatest growth potential lies in computers and electronics. This sector has a number of shares with most attractive prices, some of which are listed here.
Sapiens
Sapiens is a leading supplier of development and service tools for the rapid construction of applications. The company underwent restructuring about two years ago, moving from the sale of application generators to the sale of complete solutions, including a Year 2000 solution. Last year, Sapiens was awarded a number of important tenders.
In our assessment, the company is expected to earn about $0.5 per share in 1998, and it is trading at an attractive p/e ratio of 14.
