The contention was copper ISP vs ATHM, not one-way vs copper ISP. You pay $35/mo more for sporadic service, a floating IP address, unreliable channel lock, and other complications you will discover as you learn about extreme asymmetry over time. By productivity I assume you are spending less time doing whatever you're doing, but less time doesn't mean productivity unless what you're doing is something for money. When money is in the equation about the only economy of scale available so far comes when you have two-way megabit transfer speeds. An example would be graphic files exchanged from a remote home office. Even ATHM isn't targeting worker productivity as the main goal. They are pursuing multimedia where the dollar volume is greatest. ATHM's @Work division is exploring the productivity aspect, but the only advantage so far is in the low cost versus alternatives. The cost savings can't be realized unless you have a volume of internal hookups. Eventually I believe the cable will launch a revolution in telecommuting where the productivity of high speed can be realized. So far, the game is entertainment.
