How is shorting un-American? Longs are punished when they get too exuberant, but they would be punished even more severely if the shorts were not there to cut the top off Exuberance Mountain by selling what anyone should be selling (they just don't happen to OWN it at the time..) The major gripe I have with shorts is that they want to drive down healthy prices, but really, how is that worse than trying to drive UP healthy prices? The minor gripe I have with them is their pessimistic air, but if pessimism is un-American, where did all these lawyers come from?
