JM,

My thinking on TLAB's recent spurt is that it's at least partially related to buyout speculation -- the run-up began at the same time, if not the same day, as the NT-BAY deal and shortly after the ALA-DIGI deal. I think the T-TCOMA deal also added to it -- TLAB has some cable offerings.

Some of the run-up may also have to do with the general clamoring for telecom equipment and bandwidth that has dominated the market this year. But given the fact that it traded in a very narrow (61-63) range after the CIEN announcement, and the fact that the CIEN deal has yet to go through, leads me to believe that there is more going on here than anticipation of a solid quarter.

Just my opinion. I'm neither long nor short TLAB, but have been following them for a long time. I like them a lot -- more than any other stock that's not in my portfolio -- I just feel safer owning LU and NT. I've just seen too many niche players get crushed -- AFCI being the latest -- although TLAB is much bigger than most. I'm also long CSCO, and would love to see them buy TLAB. Good luck to you.

Paul
