Today's announcement is a huge breakthrough for HRBC into the medical field. This gets HRBC into medical EDI, which accounts for over 4 billion (!) claim transactions alone a year. Formerly this business went primarily through clearinghouse/networks like ENVOY (ENVY) and HBOC... with St Josephs as a entry into this market in the west, this could spread into a lot of areas. First, most of the big participants (insurance companies, HMOs, hospitals, labs, and all types of providers of medical services) in the field really want to transition to a cheaper, easier, internet solution which HRBC provides. Next, they want to do other transactions besides claims, like electronic payments, patient eligibility, referrals, prescriptions, lab requests and reports, and on and on to approximately 17 possible transactions per patient episode.
If HRBC can satisfy this demand for interoperability without the VANS and their costs, earnings will go to the moon.
