OT, You do have some valid points. However, public education before the turn of the century was not supported by federal tax dollars. It was all local money, and VERY little at that. Remember teachers were all woman in one room with grades 1-12 in one classroom. Which was very efficient believe it or not. The older taught the younger.

What I am saying is that big government is very INefficient at doing certain things. Let them be responsible for basic infrastructure, defense, etc. Let the states handled the rest following laws of course. Good example is welfare. It was a mess for years and years.

All those taxes go to the Federal government and then is funneled BACK to state governments through a HUGE inefficient bureaucracy. Totally unnecessary way of handling $$$$$$$$$.
