"Haven't had any shoe-shine boys or greasy spoon waitresses recommend stocks to
me so I guess we are safe???"

I just had an experience like this a few minutes ago. Check the
message board on Yahoo! in recent days...many new investors who
buy stocks solely because they go up and are cheered on by those
who herald a "new age" in stock valuation where fundamentals don't
matter. A typical post goes like this:

"How many times do you think Yippee Corporation will split in
the next few years?

I think it will be 2-1 folowed by 3-1. The stock price should
go up at least 10 fold."
