Silly silly penni. You have to plug up the holes first before you pour in the champagne. Examples of acceptable materials are Bazooka bubble gum (pre-chewed, not out of the wrapper) and Silly Putty. Absolutely do not use silicon-based caulk, as it tends to be toxic, although a latex one is acceptable in a pinch.

Note that in the event you are entertaining a large number of guests, a more economical approach is to use piccolos. They are smaller, and, obviously, cheaper. The minuscule fluid capacity of the piccolo can be irksome; however, it serves as an excellent deterrent to guests' over-imbibing before driving home.
