There is nothing easier than untaping those flutes. Easier even than taping them! Just get a large enough container, and immerse the provisionally likkerproofed wind instruments in mineral spirits (paint thinner). Gasoline will do in a pinch, but it leaves a residue. The marvelous thing about duct tape is that almost all of it is soluble in mild hydrocarbon solvents. Next morning, the duct tape will be a thin grey liquid with only the cheesecloth core demurely draped across the bottom of the container. Does double duty on all taht 24-hour Anchorwoman-quality lipstick too. I once had the job of removing some duct tape from a Plexiglas visor. Fortunately I knew the solvent trick. Hexanes (a common lab solvent, boils at 120 degrees F, very mild and non-toxic) worked like a charm.
