Anne,
The writer of this article (David Einstein, if I'm correct) is a typical, ignorant advisor.
One of the biggest problems with the computer industry is its relative degree of complexity. It makes insiders into information specialists and outsiders into pretend insiders.
This diatribe from Mr. Einstein is truly unfortunate, especially for SUNW stockholders, because it perpetuates the myth of MSFT omnipotence and is full of useless information that keeps investors away from buying SUNW stock.
If I thought that the boys from Redmond had any savvy with PR & disinformation, I would suspect that the author was a MSFT plant. Since they don't, this guy is just another mis-informed "expert" with a pen.
These rumors about SUNW & its supposed inability to compete w/the "Redmond Giant" were started on Wall St. and they started for a reason. My belief is that the market makers don't like competition for their beloved PC Cartel and started this line of b.s. to depress SUNW stock, and steer investors toward Wintel etal. Parrots like this nitwit who writes for the Chron just pick up the b.s. as it flows downhill and spit it out to the retail public.
Before closing, I would like to say to you this: NONE, I repeat, NONE of the information in this article is the least bit relevant to SUNW or its shareholders.
I want to thank you for posting this, Anne. I'm going to write a nasty letter to the Chronicle & its business editor.
