I'm not that familiar with US halts, or lack of halts. I would think that on any Canadian exchange the stock would have been halted, either by the exchange, or at the company request before the news release. The news is released, digested, and then the halt is removed.
Here halt and suspension, I believe, are two totally different animals. Both halts and suspensions do not normally have a time limit on them, ie. 10 days as in MINE's case. If the halt is at the company request, trading resumes again when the company requests it to resume. If an exchange halt or suspension, normally the trading begins when the company has complied with, or filed, whatever the exchange has demanded of them.
I am no expert so would appreciate someone correcting any errors above.
My point, it's a good sign, is that MINE was just halted for 10 days, methinks it could have been worse, no?
