Ian, OT I believe all the larger companies use a combination of both depending on the design in question. Motorola did sell some of their mask operations as did Hyundai. IBM is expanding theirs. sumnet.com The trend is definitely towards outsourcing, but the largest companies do have mask shops. I'm sorry I don't have more information for you in this area. It would require some time to research. Perhaps someone reading this can add something? Bob
