I kind of enjoy looking at CPQ's problems, and your post was one of the best in describing them, but does anyone know how much business Dell is taking away from OTHER, the little local computer resellers? There are a ton of them here in San Diego, and that's where most people (and it seems a lot of businesses) shop. They tend to be very current in their prices, although the quality usually leaves something to be desired. Service is OK. How many businesses buy from local VARs, how much business could Dell hope to get from these guys? Anyone know?
