RE: CD CRASHING PROBLEM!!!

You are right. There is a problem with the software crashing. I am a Mac user and it doesn't work at all, but I do have a PC as well. An older one with little RAM and not too powerful.

The CD crashes because Windows does not allocate enough RAM to run the graphic intensive program. On a Mac you can change the RAM allocation but Windows does not allow you to do that. I think you have to buy a program called Mem-Ram to alter the RAM allocation. If you go into the DOS interface and type "mem" you can see how much memory is required and how much has been allocated - and more importantly if you are short.

When I tried to install the software and had similar problems I called Tech support. It turns out that most of the calls they get are related to this problem.

In my opinion this is a serious problem. Many newbies, or relatively inexperienced surfers will give up before they even reach the tech support line. It is very easy to go to another online casino that does not have this problem. No one has patience - especially on the Internet.

Even if they reach tech support they are told to go out and spend $50 on another program to make the Softec software run properly. Who wants to do that. It also prevents people from playing right away. Remember, Gamblers are compulsive AND IMPULSIVE.

However, I have faith that either technology will catch up in the short term, or Starnet will correct this problem in the next version. Softec needs to make the software dummy proof. It must be simple to gamble - a set of actions that requires only minimal cognitive decision making skills.
