Dennis,

Not only is this typical going into earnings..but when there is a vote to increase the number of shares (i.e. future split potential) the momentum generally keeps going. If and when a split is announced more fuel is added to the fire and it climbs even higher. After a split more investors jump in because of the psychological price barrier (it looks like a sale to some) there MAY be a small, very temporary pull back after that, but it is lifted again due to more news and the confidence in the stock.

One other thing to keep in mind is we are heading into what is normally the best half of the year for computer sales.

Dell has been one of the most consistant stocks in performance I have ever had the pleasure to own. Unlike a TIMEX...DELL has never taken a "licking" but it does keep on "kicking."
