I'm glad you've found this thread useful.

If you haven't already, check out the Intel and Cyrix threads, too. I've found this thread more useful than any other on SI. When AMD's biggest and most vocal critic bought some stock, I knew buying some more stock was almost a sure bet. The large profits I've made from that investment alone have paid for all the time I've spent on SI.

AMD has other successful businesses, but x86 CPUs are the products that will make the most difference to the bottom line, so I hope you don't mind too much that CPU issues get most of the attention.

After all, we are all here to make money and nothing else.

This is a huge mistake. There's a lot more ego than money invested in this company. A lot of people have held this stock for a year or more and haven't made any money. They resent newcomers like me who come in and make a lot of money quickly. There is also a lot of people here (and at Cyrix) that hate Intel and would like to see them fail. If you have anything good to say about the company that invented the part at the heart of a PC and created a huge industry, you'll be flamed here.

This hatred of Intel extends to the employees. Both companies were found in 1969 and Intel has grown to 8x AMD's size, with even greater profit margins. This aggravates Jerry Sanders and others greatly, but the results speak for themselves.

AMD has a bright future because Intel and the court system forced them to design an x86 CPU. They did a great job (using ex-Intel employees) and I expect my shares to double again. If AMD had been left to their own devices, they would've slowly shriveled up and died. Thank God for Intel!
