US West is starting up DSL service in my area (near Seattle, WA). I am not yet in the service area, but I thought the pricing would be of interest to all of us who follow Metricom or use Ricochet. It seems like the pricing is quite competitive. Go to this site to see what I mean:

uswest.com

The pricing on this page doesn't even include any promotional deals, like free installation or whatever.

What was new to me on this pricing page was the various levels of service. I didn't know that DSL was capable of such high speeds over copper telephone lines, while still enabling voice communications over the same line.

Granted, Metricom's main advantage is still the mobile feature of the service, but pricing is going to be a problem, I think. Any opinions?

Best,

Rex
