Jim: It would be nice if you could participate in this mind-boggling Dell stock without worrying so much about about what might happen. As a trader, it may be difficult for you as ( my) attitudes change slowly,in that the good old days of 9% CD's were not too bad, the bank stocks NB and BAC were great last year for me, and I am still inclined to buy a few more conventional stocks like DIS or RCL or MRK or LU. The way I got so heavily involved in Dell has been to dump other stocks that did not perform as well, or that I bought for other purposes like to participate in stocks splits. This did not require that I predict what Dell was going to do next as long as the fundamentals were strong. In the last 18 months I have dumped over 50 different stocks because they had met my goal or just plain went nowhere or down. Includes CPQ , intc, banks, etc, And each time a lot of the money went into Dell which continued to outperforn. .. If you seriously think the market will tank very soon( timing is everything), then you are properly bearish, but Dell is NOT the one to be shorting . Dell is up 150% this year and is going up farther and even a healthy tanking in the fall is not going to kill any Dell bulls. We are in too cheaply. Summary: IMO if you bought some Dell, any amount ( to get a solid feel for it) and watched it outperform your other holdings over time you could get on this bandwagon and enjoy the ride. It does take time to get used to winning. OTOT Although I bought the DIS for todays split, I will keep it a while longer as "Dads" may be inclined to buy some while its cheap on behalf of the kids.
