Hi Folks, Here's what SNNT told me, and it seems to support JohnB and Kirby and the rest of us positive types. I sent Henry's message via e-mail and got this response from a high-ranking Synthonics exec:
Dear Bob,
Synthonics has developed a truly unique approach to generating 3D content. The U.S. Patent Office agrees with the uniqueness and has thus far issued five patents and notified the company that another will issue in August. Additionally, ten patent applications remain pending in both the U.S. Patent Office and International patent offices.
The value add brought by Synthonics' approach is that it provides affordable and accurate 3D content solutions. As a bonus, the file size is also very small, making the generated content easily transferable over the Internet. The generation of 3D content is not new, as Hollywood has been doing it for years. What is new, is that accurate 3D content can now be utilized by many markets that cannot afford the Hollywood process. Markets such as education, medical and Electronic Commerce can now afford photo-realistic 3D models of products, patients, artifacts, etc. This is possible due to the technology now available from Synthonics. This has certainly been validated by the Smithsonian Institution as it selected Synthonics over many other 3D content generation capabilities. In their words, "the competition wasn't even close." No one could offer the complete package that included:
* Affordable cost * Accurate portrayal of artifacts in three dimensions * File sizes small enough for easy Internet transfer * Data capture accuracy with virtually no handling of the artifact treasures
The validation of both the use by the Smithsonian combined with the issuance of several patents has attracted the attention of several big name players with whom many business related discussions are underway. I hope this information answers your questions. I have also attached a brief technical paper on photogrammetry prepared by Dr. Charles Palm.
Sincerely,
Synthonics Technologies, Inc.
This is Bob again. I shan't send on the Dr. Palm paper, because like Kirby I've done my dew dilly and believe these guys are for real. Like most of you, I don't mind negative opinions, but I think Henry was a little off mark and confusing apples and kiwis. Our price has held alright this week, and more good news is in the chute. Back to being patient. -Good ol' Bob, still hoping SNNT makes it big someday
