A stock almost always rallies off the filled gap. If the company has real value then it may move up never to return to that level. But if it's got big ugly skeletons on the closet then it will slowly begin another descent until the life is squeezed out. But of course a suckers rally or two can be expected in almost any sliding stock.

I can't explain why...but a gap is almost like a secret marker for savy traders. NEVER fight against the gap.

Go pull charts on 100 gapped stocks and you'll find 95 of them filled the gap...sometimes it takes months but they almost always get filled.
