All : Nancy raises some key points about the nature of free speech , the 2nd Amendment, and gun ownership
>> Emile is saying is not harmless but dangerous. In the UK, it is against the law to incite racial hatred. I Britain, Emile would be arrested. Here, he can't.
>> There can be no free speech when the speech is used to promote a violent act or hatred Exactly the point of the UK law.
However, I do admire the First Amendment, and regard it as essential for the protection of a democracy. In the UK, only Members of Parliarment are granted the privelage of First Amendment rights, and only when they are in the House of Commons. Everyone else, including the press, is bound by strict libel laws, various 'incitement to' laws, and occasionally the Official Secrets Act.
This does not mean there is no free speech on the UK, on the contrary, the press is arguably freer with it's opinion than here in the US. They can be creative getting around laws. e.g. The BBC and ITV were banned from broadcasting Gerry Adams, (the Sinn Fein leader) actual speeches. They got around this by showing film of Mr Adams, dubbed over by an actor repeating his words verbatim. The actor was lip- synced and even had the correct accent.
>> I would rather fight it out here than in the Synagogues with children there. It has always been my concern with shootouts. Your own surviveability in the situation you describe would have been reduced if your congregation had been armed. (The man had already trained his weapon on you and your son. If threatened he would either shoot, or attempt to take you hostage. Either way, your chances would have been slim)
>> the man ( DOnald Ray Anderson) was sentenced to 12 years without parole Disgracefully light sentence. It should have been life.
>> want to encourage you to continue to uphold the Jewish people against this evil hatred that has been around for a very long time (too long) Regarding Emile, I wonder if he actually believes the crap he types. I'm almost certain he gets a sick kick out of provoking. The 'Jewish Conspiracy' is highly effective way of elicitng a response. Look at his brief history on this thread. He expounds his 'belief', then denies the basis for the responses he gets, prompting further response.
Pardon my french, but he comes across as a non to subtle 'mind fucker'. He does go away if ignored, which tends to support my hypothesis. Incidently, he is well known on the 'Thread Moron' page. He is known as Evile Vermin over there.
