Jim, I think it is very funny that the Southern Baptists have taken on Disney. As I have said before, I think the United States is rapidly splitting into two cultures--the Christian right being one of them, and almost everyone else being the other. I had read that their campaign to boycott Disneyworld in Florida was fading fast--certainly it isn't hurting ticket sales. And like the declaration that women should graciously submit to their husbands, it affects only those Southern Baptists who choose to follow it. There are many, many dissenters who are church members. It is curious that Texas is moving so far to the right to accommodate them, since I see it as basically a more diverse place than the deep South. And I read an article this week in Newsweek about how Governor Bush is trying so very hard to get Hispanic support that he is supporting bilingual education. Maybe Penni or Del could comment on this, since they live there. Maybe Duncan has something to say, since he is a major holder of Disney stock! cnnfn.com
