MB, yeah, funny but isn't Pisani the guy who always has to reassure the viewers that he's "on the ball" (which he isn't) by having to constantly refer to the fact that he has little colored screens in front of him (holy smokes, he's really cooking with gas there on that one. Imagine that - someone looking at a quote screen.)
And the thing is - there are plenty of times when he's not even reading them right. Latest example: he was on a "box-makers are strong" kick Friday, at a time when exactly two of the major box-makers were in actually anywhere near "strong" - CPQ and IBM. GTW was giving up ground after its run (after another great "If Pisani's reporting it, it must be getting long in the tooth" moment by Pisani the day before). DELL was up maybe 1/8. HWP was down.
So aside from floor-trader friendly babble presented as "news reporting", the guy can't even read his screens right, and yet the off-camera schleps insist that out of all the broadcast journalists out there - Bob Pisani's the guy to put on the floor of the NYSE.
Sorry, CNBC. Shake a tree outside of Syracuse, Columbia, Northwestern, U. of Missouri (Columbia) and you'll get 10 dozen undergrad juniors who could do a better job.
He's a features guy. Not a breaking news guy. He exhibits the journalistic savvy of a stale soft pretzel.
If they had any sense, they'd have him do whatever it is Kate Bonner is doing, although frankly, I'm still at a loss for whatever it is she's doing with that "Puff Pile" segment.
Good trading,
Tom
