SI formed a discussion forum. People signed up. You signed up, I signed up, we all signed up. (Are you following along so far?) Some people are employees at companies, some have their own companies, some people are retired. With over 30,000 members you're bound to have some mix of the above. Talk about conspiracies! Heck, Steve Jobs could be a member for all I know. So Apple would suddenly be having a relationship with SI? Better call the SEC, Rich.
On the TLC post you mention: He described going long on some trades and going short on others. People do that in this thing called the Stock Market. Here at SI, people discuss this kind of stuff—stocks, trades, and the market. Conspiracy, or some inbred's feeble mind—you decide.
