Joke of the Month ...

August Red Herring, page 126. "The Case Against the Microsoft Suit".

David R. Henderson, "Research Fellow" at the Hoover Institution and economics professor at the Naval Postgraduate School:

"No one disputes that Microsoft, right now, has a lock on the market for operating systems. But Mr. Gates and company got it the old-fashioned way: they earned it. Microsoft is reaping the reward of its innovation, and the only way it will be able to maintain its 'monopoly' is by constantly innovating ..."

This guy obviously knows nothing about software.

It sounds like words from the mouth of Bill doesn't it?

Did Microsoft do something innovative that I wasn't aware of?

Did Microsoft buy Red Herring magazine? Every month an article or editorial defends Microsoft's business practices.

Isn't Microsoft big enough to defend itself?

Doesn't Microsoft have three or four PR agencies on its payroll?

Could this be the reason there are constant articles about the inevitability of Windows NT taking over the world?

How much does one charge to defend Microsoft in print and in doing so make himself look like a complete fool?

Didn't magazines practice JOURNALISM in the good old days and present both sides of an issue?

Research Fellow? If his title were "Incompetant Boob" I could accept his positions as being sincere. I don't think he did any "research".

Drop an e-mail to David Henderson at drhend@mbay.net and let him know what you think.

The Microsoft propoganda machine chugs on and on ...
