Millennium bug claims hit Lloyd's

LLOYD'S of London is being hit by claims from the millennium bug, more than 17 months before the end of the century, as insurers prepare for a tidal wave of insurance litigation that is expected in 2000.

At least six technology companies have notified their insurers at Lloyd's that they are likely to make claims under their existing policies. These companies are expecting to be sued by some of the business customers to which they have supplied software which will crash at the start of 2000.
