As other stocks go down, and Dell goes up, the other stocks will become more and more attractive, and Dell will become less so. This is why Dell cannot defy the general market for long. After the split, the fund managers might decide to sell since they can now claim that they had another stock that split. Dell is probably rising because people are excited about the split. Why is MSFT falling, since it, too, is splitting tomorrow?

By the way, after the split Dell will have about 60 cents less earnings per share than GATE, but yet will be at about the price. What's going to happen? Is Dell going to go down or is GATE going to go up?
