Sainsbury's, like other organisations, has attempted to secure assurances from suppliers,
but often without success. Power companies, for example, have refused to provide
anything more than a general statement of intent - useless for planning.
It is in part because
of this absurd paper chase that insurance underwriters are now refusing to insure against
the risk of Millennium failure.
