Steve,

I have taken my loses now and dumped the whole damned sector on it's a$$ for now.. I may be back in on Monday, we'll see.

That makes sense, you have to stay diversified. I will cut my losses too, if Intel starts to unravel. My entry point was low though, so Intel would have to fall lower than 62/shr.

AMD doesn't need higher margins!.. they need better management and better descision making. They need to ditch Vantis and the rest of the crap that is getting the $hit kicked out of it. They need to FOCUS on cpus. They need process people with a brain. They need a CEO who doesn't eat CRACK for breakfast every morning with a big spoon. That's what AMD needs ;-)

Hey, we agree on that. ;-) Higher margins and more profit also probably wouldn't hurt AMD. <G>

Let's agree to disagree on that one for now.. the reason is simple I have heard the same thing for the last 5-8 years about AMD. Still hasn't happened.

Well, what has changed within the last two years for AMD is Jerry bet the house on the K6. He said so himself, and by all accounts that is one time he was talking straight.

Well we agree to some extent.. I'm not sure if it was the message itself or the messenger however.

I think it was the message. Intel's management is rational and focused on profits. Intel has nothing personal against Jerry & Co.

If AMD wouldn't have attacked like Rambo, Intel's response may have been more tempered. After all, Intel does want to maintain profit margins. Andy has said in the past when asked about AMD, he is much more concerned about expanding the market by 10 million chips than losing 1 million chips to AMD. But that was before AMD went for broke against Intel.

Anyway, I guess we will have a better idea after Intel reports. They will probably give an ultra conservative view knowing the threat of an escalating price war is very real.
