<My concern is if Bell Atlantic and other ILECs choose to hold the line on DSL access where would that leave AOL???>

I think you are focusing on the wrong point. Irregardless of the
mode of access, the value of AOL to users is the presence
of an online community with an established brand.

BTW, I signed up for AOL long distance service today, 6 cents
a minute, 9 cents after a month. That's a huge savings for me
over my current service, ATT. The operator who handled my
order at AOL says the response has been overwhelming for AOL
long distance. It was encouraging to me that AOL is able to leverage
their subscriber base to further revenues.
