If they have a patent they have a patent #. Did you ask them for the number. As a chemistry teacher, I wouldn't think it very difficult to separate and recover the zinc. They may have nothing that is patentable.

Also, with the depressed commodities, especially metals, prices right now this seems like a high risk investment. JIMHO
