CONGRATS to FRANCE, the WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS!!!!

The score did not represent what occured today in the field. France barely missed on inflicting the worst loss ever to Brazil, it should have been 5 or 6-0...

We were all right in the beggining of the thread when we said that Brazil does not show it has the TEAM required to win the World Cup. And this was the difference tonight, the best TEAM won the game. France has played the best football of all teams in EACH game and has clearly shown they have a very cohesive TEAM to go with some extraordinaire talent. All they now need is to find a better finishere and get rid of Djorkaeff and they might win it in 2002 he he.

Brazil has gotten so far mainly on their brilliant individual talent and flashes of it in each game by a different player. It just happened there were no flashes today. Even if they were they did not have the TEAM to be World Cup Champions. Heck, they couldn't threaten (let alone score) with France being without Blanc, then without Desally and 10 men! Imagine that! No goals on 10 French without Blanc and Desally and then France scores another goal on you the third!!Did you say Waterloo???

So the blaming will begin, it always does...I believe if this Brazilian team had to go through qualifying they would have been much more of a TEAM and would have beaten up everybody so bad...I am talking break all World Cup records. But the coach Zagallo decided to just bring this team together for such a short period of time they never had a chance of getting to be a REAL team together...Then we have DeNilsen in the game who nine out of ten times he'll try to dribble the corner flag too (okay okay still one out of ten he did create some threats toda but too little too late). And then he brings this monstrosity Edmundo who has been simply HORRIBLE in this Cup...Guys, you must realize I do respect Zagallo as a person and gentleman and his contributions to Brazilian Soccer. But now I must really wonder that each time I talk to my brother on the phone in Sao Paulo he tries to reassure me that this guy has lost it and he should have retired a long time ago...I thought that this was typical Brazilian made hunger for beautiful soccer etc....but now I wonder if he is right. And then I think about the stupid guarantees "We will win the Cup"....Brazil was nowhere on the field in the whole first half, talk about getting your team ready to play. I think these guys were totally overcome by the pressure brought upon them by the coaches (not that they needed any more I understand). But I just don't like people who make comments before games, I prefer to keep my mouth shut and answere on the field where it matters.

I expect this Brazilian team, having to qualify for the next WC, to beat everybody so bad in 4 years (remeber only Dunga will probably not be there for sure) that they will rewrite all WC records for ever. Yes folks you heard it here first<gg>

I think the refs did a great job today, congrats to them. Wow to call a World Cup final, the ultimate for a ref. I think the fourth official was the UAE guy, maybe because he is given some due credit for his superb officiating in this WC.

France made history today. What I really liked about the French team was how much they really loved each other. No racial tensions, prejudices, and other bullshit. They played like and won the World Cup as brothers (hear that Goldfinger? Instead of beating each other in celebrations try some hugging and real tears). Maybe this is the beginning of the end of racism and all Europeans of all colors coming together now....Wow stop me I am off....the beginning of the United Europe, the emergence of the Euro to overtake the mighty dollar, etc etc. Damn I wish I could short the Brazilian stock market index before opening!!!!!

I will miss ALL of you guys, we made this thread lots of fun.

What a show it was and what an empty feeling it is now that I realize that it will be four years before we see the next World Cup games.

As far as the thread go, I propose renaming it to something like "All about soccer". Maybe we can keep it going until the next World Cup who knows..

It just hit me....the REAL reason Brazil lost tonight...Ronaldo's girlfriend was NOT in the stands. Instead we had to see some nice French ladies (thank god for no hairy armpit shots<g>).

I am not calling my brother tonight, he is definitely in mourning.

George
