Thanks again Jon

There is no doubt in my mind that Novell has a lot of terrific employees. Theyare what gives this company its potential. I'm also convinced that bringing in a new CEO would not necessary lead to a lot of reorganization and departures. The troops will stay because they believe in the products.

The main problem is Novell management and marketing. The Board of Directors, I believe is now down to 6 people. So the main obstacle to bringing in a new CEO (in wanting to have a cooperative Board) is probably being addressed with Ashton's departure. Young will also leave.

There will be slots to fill on the Board and the new CEO will want to remake the Board, possibly expanding it to bring in new blood.

My hope is that if they pick a conservative CEO like the one from EDS, they also put on their board more people like Soros. I've seen what this guy did with his foundation in Russia (he knows whereto put his money and is a real entrepreneur) and he will motivate them to have this company realize its potential.

The Novell Board is too parochial. They need an international perspective. They should put some Europeans on the Board. Frankly they also need some people like us, from the industry. They really do need a more aggressive outlook. If they pick a conservative CEO, we will all be mourning Marengi.

I hope they are smart enough to take a chance and go with a real aggressive CEO from the industry, and not some acceptable bureaucrat.

If any of Novell's products becomes a sales success the upside on the stock is just phenomenal. Its the unrealized potential that holds us back.
