Sometimes a news story piques my interest, sometimes a recommendation from a friend or colleague, sometimes from an unusual amount of hype/shilling on the internet (when accompanied by the usual atrocious financials and crappy management), TAVA is a great example. An unusual amount of hype is usually indicative of a stock promotion fraud, since chop shops and scumbag stock promoters have discovered that the internet is an excellent vehicle for distributing toilet paper. On occassion, I'll try to think about how the current economic climate may affect certain industries (this led to five of my recent shorts...AMD, BGG, AVP, QNTM and JCP).
