You may be right that in certain states evolution isn't being taught (maybe in the South?), but I know it's different where I live. My brother is in a class at a junior college for the summer. EVERY DAY his teacher makes an offhand comment about how certain things that occur in nature help prove evolution. On Friday she said something like, "Porpoises shut off half of their brain when they are sleeping. If humans ever evolve into the water, our brains will end up like this through evolution." She says this kind of stuff everyday and it actually makes herself look not so good IMO to mention that we may evolve back into the water. I guess we could, but I'm pretty sure the theory says we evolved from the water.

If you want more things my brother's teacher said, I'll give them to you. BTW, this is a psychology class in which it is taught. Not even biology.
