Hey, Downsouth, Betty Ann & Ibexx, thanks for the posts. I said, when I read the book, " I always knew this, they just express it better!" Their "basket" approach won't be followed by the people on this board, too conservative. I got carried away with buying the small cap gorilla candidates when I first got the book and lost my ass on Vantive and Rambus. These small cap software companies that may end up the new Sap's and Microsoft's are too risky. If they miss their numbers, they can tumble 40% overnight. The big boys won't reward performance by them because of this. They are too thinly traded. If you stay with the lead "Gorilla", you can do as well or better, without the downside. Most of the people I talk to on these boards are "tech's" like me, and we tend to respond too soon to a new small company, because we can see the potential. I like the front office and supply chain software co's, but I won't invest in them again until a clear leader dominates, and I see stability. What I lose by waiting I more than make up with the huge rise in the gorillas. |
